I've been running ver 8.2 system for a couple of weeks. Everything has been running smoothly since installation.
However, I was very annoyed about the lack of "Save password" function in v 8.2 of DMMultiView and checked if newer versions include it.
I did not have plans to update the software, but as I noticed that in addition to the "Save password", some other useful improvements has been added, I decided to do it.
I first decided to test the DMMultiView 8.3.4 only on my client machine. The server is still running v.8.2 of the main system and the other default software applications.
At a glance, I noticed that in this version there is a "View mode" with two cameras on big resoltion which was lacking in previous versions.
Since my two problems have been resolved, I was sure at that time I am definitely going to update and here the problems started. By switching between view modes several times, the DMMultiView application goes white and if you click once more, the "Needs to close" window pops up. The same happens in 99% of the cases I am trying to "Close" the application from the Standard way "Button->Close".
But that's not all. The crash of the DMMultiView client somehow causes the Server GV Main System Software or the entire PC to reboot. I say "OR" because I still haven't seen it live. I noticed it remotely. After the crash, I am unable to neither connect to the Server, nor log in Remote Desktop or notice the Skype user logged on the Server PC to be ONLINE. Thefore, I tend to beleive it's a whole PC reboot, but can't confirm before I see it on place.
Please note that despite the version difference, I am at least able to receive video signal(haven't tested for audio since it's night here and nobody speaks at the server side
Is it possible for the problem to be caused by the difference in versions(8.2 Main System on the Server, 8.3.4 Client DMMultiView)?
As a software developer myself, I understand there can be some server-related changes which cause problems, but I don't seem to find a solution myself and that's why I decided to ask here.
Regards!
Edit:
In another topic I found a test IP address to test the DMMultiView software out asuming you are running the latest version of the GeoVision Main System. For my great surprise, in spite of my attempts to crash the system by changing Views in a fast manner, the DMMultiView client didn't crash. Yes, some views took some time to load(3 sec) and while loading, the system was looking similarly to as it has crashed, but no.
Moreover, I noticed the connection speed is much slower than the one we are using. This was one of the things I thoght on as a potential cause.
So, is it possible that the version difference is the cause for my crashes and should I spend an hour for the update. Is it worth doing it?
