Questions to ask when buying a CCTV Security System

1. Black and White or Color Display? : Color displays allow for better image detection than black and white systems. However where light levels are low, below 0.1 lux a black and white system may be more appropriate due to the lower illumination levels required.


2. Number of Cameras? : Depending on the number of cameras that your CCTV system utilises it may be necessary to use a CCTV splitter. This allows for two or more cameras to display images on the one monitor. These are available for two, three, four or eight camera CCTV Security Systems.


3. Does my Surveillance System need a hidden camera?
   Hidden CCTV systems are unlikely to offer a large enough benefit to your business except in a few situations. Cameras are available in reduced sizes.


4. Do I require an infrared camera? : The infrared cameras
   used in certain cctv systems can see up to 30ft distance in total darkness. Some digital cctv security systems can see to greater lengths at increased cost. CCTV security systems which use infrared cameras work as ordinary video cameras during daytime. Most color infrared cameras work as B/W
   ones at night.


5. Does my CCTV System require a zoom function? : Usually this function is helpful so you can focus your CCTV security system onto specific areas. This can be adjusted from your CCTV control center.
